I wake up to my personal belongings knocked this way and that every single morning; but I understand that I only have a limited time with my fur baby during the day. What is more important in that waking moment?
Discipline?
Or love (mixed with a little bit more safekeeping on my end)?
It’s just not worth ruining her day- or mine. When I look into those little orbs set perfectly in her tiny triangle face, waiting to gauge my temperature after taking in the mess, all I can feel is love. And I know that initial encounter makes both of our days better. The discipline can wait for later.
We have to think like that with humans too. Especially the struggling or more sensitive.
This method doesn’t mean we can’t voice our frustrations with those we know are struggling… it’s not about putting your own emotions on the backburner. But as an advocate, it is so important to understand that love saves lives. Love comes in so many forms and discipline is one, but…
Just make sure soft, kind love comes first.
